Key Responsibilities

BP's Whiting Clean Energy (WCE) is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Planner. The objective of this position is to maximise the overall effectiveness of the Maintenance organisation by improving availability, reducing cost and assuring compliance. The Maintenance Planner identifies the activities and responsibilities involved in the work and provides detailed work plans that assure all materials and resources are available prior to a job being scheduled for execution.

  • Responsible for health, safety and environmental performance to achieve our goals of no accidents, no harm to people and no harm to the environment.
  • Develop and/or modify maintenance plans that consist of detailed tasks and cost estimates for Preventive and Predictive maintenance work including compliance dates, number and type of crafts, man-hour estimates, materials, special tools/equipment, specialty contractors and transportation equipment.
  • Validates the need for the job to be performed.
  • Ensures that all materials, labour, tools, permits, etc. are identified, allocated and are available upon job start.
  • Checks the Computerised Maintenance management System (CMMS) for duplicate work orders and eliminates duplications.
  • Provide planning for approximately 15 – 50 BP / Contractor crafts per BP / WCE Policies.
  • Develops a backlog that aids in scheduling and resource leveling.
  • Assure cost effective and expeditious completion of maintenance work with the Maintenance Supervisor / Scheduler by removing as many obstacles as possible from the performance of the job.
  • Prepare and develop Work Order Packages that includes Detailed Work Plan, Bill of Materials, Drawings, Pictures, QA/QC Package, Technical Procedures/Documents, HSSE Procedures/Documents, etc.
  • Generate requisitions and bid requests for special tools, materials, and specialty contractor services required to support the work plan and field execution.
  • Assure proper closure of Maintenance Orders including documenting, initiating any follow-up Maintenance Orders (particularly Preventive Maintenance/Predictive Maintenance) and review plan vs. actual results.
  • Responsible for adherence and improvement of established work methods and work processes.
  • Working knowledge of crane load charts, crane erection, rigging and crane lift design. Also providing input regarding for Standard, Complex and/or Critical Crane lifts.
  • Works closely with operations, maintenance, engineering and contractors to provide consistent communication in planning jobs.
  • May be required to work off-shift and weekend assignments.
  • May fill in as Maintenance Supervisor / Scheduler.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience
  • Working experience in the planning and scheduling of maintenance / construction activities.
  • Thorough understanding of work breakdown structure and task sequencing techniques.
  • Working experience in managing the equipment maintenance process.
